So you have received the package you've been waiting for – Shilajit. Pure Shilajit packs an aroma and taste so earthy it feels like you've traveled to the Himalayas. But there's one thing nobody tells you enough about – the messiness that comes with using Shilajit. If there's one thing people don't like about Shilajit, it's this. And this is exactly why there are many alternatives in the market that offer Shilajit in different forms – liquid, capsule, powder, gummies – but none as effective as resin.
Real Shilajit is a tar-like substance packed with minerals. When you scoop it out, it feels as though it doesn't want to leave the jar (think of cheese when picking up a slice of pizza).
Once you start using our Shilajit regularly, you will discover the best ways to handle it and minimize the inconvenience of handling it.
Here are some tips to prepare you for what to expect and how to make the most out of Shilajit in the jar.
1. Let it settle
Shilajit is extremely sensitive to temperature. During the summer months, Shilajit is warmer, thinner and tends to leak out of cracks (just as it seeps out from the crevices of rocks). We already add an extra seal on the mouth of the glass jar to prevent Shilajit from leaking out and sticking to the lid. When you first open the lid and the liner, you may see some Shilajit stuck to the liner. To minimize the amount of Shilajit stuck to the liner, we recommend placing the jar upright at room temperature for a few hours. You may also put it in a warmer area away from direct sunlight.
2. Avoid creating threads when scooping out
When scooping out Shilajit, keep the spoon inside the jar while breaking away from the rest of the Shilajit. This way, you won't create threads that can be hard to break.
3. Add purified water and leave it overnight
If your Shilajit loses moisture and hardens, simply add a spoonful of purified water to the jar and leave it overnight. Shilajit will absorb the water evenly, presenting a thinner texture in the morning.
4. Keep the lid and jar mouth clean
To avoid the lid getting stuck to the jar, we recommend cleaning the outer threads of the jar and the inner threads of the lid with a clean, damp kitchen towel. Removing any Shilajit from these areas will ensure the lid does not stick to the jar. If it does, run the jar under warm tap water in an upright position for a few minutes.
Once you use Shilajit regularly, you will soon learn the tricks to keep your morning Shilajit routine a breeze.
At The Whole Reason, we take immense pride in providing you with the highest-quality, single-origin Shilajit sourced directly from Gilgit-Baltistan. We understand that some of our valued customers have noticed differences in the smell, taste, consistency, or dissolvability of their Shilajit compared to previous batches. We want to take a moment to clarify why these natural variations occur and assure you that the purity and potency of our product remain unchanged.
1. Why Does This Batch Smell and Taste Different?
Real Shilajit is not a mass-manufactured product—it is a rare and natural resin formed over centuries. Its taste and smell are influenced by many factors, including:
-
The season in which it is harvested
-
The area of the region it was harvested from
-
The natural variations in its mineral composition
That said, our Shilajit is always single-origin, meaning it comes from the same region of Gilgit-Baltistan every time. We maintain a direct-trade relationship, meaning we source it straight from the people who harvest it—never through middlemen. Additionally, our processing facility in Pakistan is GMP-certified, ensuring that every batch is handled with the highest industry standards for safety and quality.
2. Why Is This Batch More Runny Than the Last One?
In our previous batches, we used a foam liner to seal our jars. However, we discovered that over time, this foam seal wasn’t providing the airtight protection we intended. As you may have noticed, it often didn’t tear off cleanly, which meant air exposure could impact the consistency of the resin.
To improve freshness and maintain quality, we upgraded to a heat induction seal, which creates an airtight barrier, preventing moisture or air from altering the Shilajit. This change may have led to a slightly different texture—more pliable than before—but rest assured, the purity and benefits remain the same.
3. Why Does Shilajit Leave Residue or Flakes?
Another difference some customers have pointed out is the presence of small residue flakes when dissolving Shilajit in water. This variation is also a natural occurrence and is influenced by the drying process.
When Shilajit is sun-dried in intense summer heat, Shilajit on the outer edges of the drying pan may harden into flakes. In contrast, during cooler winter months, the drying process is gentler, leading to a smoother consistency. These variations are completely natural and do not impact the effectiveness or potency of the Shilajit. If you notice flakes, simply leave your water at room temperature for about an hour, and they will fully dissolve.
We do not process our Shilajit with chemicals or high heat, which is likely to give it the same consistency every time.
Our Commitment to Quality
We hear your concerns, and we appreciate your trust in us. Every step we take—from direct sourcing to upgraded packaging—is with the goal of delivering the best possible Shilajit to you, and is the result of our customers' valuable feedback over the time. While nature’s process may introduce small variations, what remains unchanged is our commitment to purity, authenticity, and effectiveness.
Shilajit is one of nature’s most powerful wellness supplements, packed with essential minerals and fulvic acid that support overall health, energy, and vitality. While many people take Shilajit daily, Ayurveda recommends a specific cycle for consumption to prevent dependency and allow the body to fully integrate its benefits.
Why Cycling Shilajit Matters
Shilajit is meant to support your body’s natural functions, not replace them. Continuous, daily use without breaks may lead to the body becoming overly reliant on Shilajit's effects and benefits. Following a proper intake cycle ensures your body maintains its natural balance while still reaping the benefits of Shilajit.
The Recommended Shilajit Cycle
According to Ayurvedic wisdom, Shilajit should be taken in cycles as follows:
-
Take Shilajit for 10 days
-
Discontinue for 5 days
-
Resume taking Shilajit for another 10 days
-
Discontinue for another 5 days
-
Take Shilajit for a final 10-day period
-
Discontinue for 20 days before starting the cycle again
This cycling approach helps your body absorb and utilize Shilajit effectively while ensuring it doesn’t become dependent on it to function optimally.

How to Take Shilajit
-
Dosage: A pea-sized amount (approximately 200-300 mg) per day.
-
Mixing: Dissolve in warm water, tea, or milk for best absorption.
-
Timing: Take in the morning or on an empty stomach for wellness throughout the day.
Listen to Your Body
Every individual responds differently to herbal supplements. If you’re new to Shilajit, start with a smaller amount and observe how your body reacts. If you have specific health conditions, consult with a healthcare professional before incorporating Shilajit into your routine.
By following this Ayurvedic cycle, you can make the most of Shilajit’s powerful properties while maintaining your body’s natural equilibrium. Wellness is a journey—Shilajit is here to support your body's natural vitality.
